Globacorp Supports “Tough Enough RUNNING TEAM” for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation

Breast cancer knows no borders… Each year, thousands of Canadian women and men are touched by breast cancer. It not only impacts the individuals diagnosed and living with the disease, but also their families, friends and loved ones are affected as well.

This form of cancer is the most common among women. Some notable facts include:

  • In 2009, an estimated 22,700 women in Canada will be diagnosed with breast cancer. On average, 437 women will be diagnosed every week.
  • In 2009, an estimated 180 men in Canada will be diagnosed with breast cancer. Men with breast cancer make up approximately 1% of all diagnosed cases.
  • In 2009, an estimated 5,400 women and 50 men will die from breast cancer in Canada.

Globacorp Developments International recognizes the seriousness of this frightful disease and supports the efforts of the “Tough Enough Running Team” in their innovative run to raise needed funds for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

In early 2009, Courtney Demerchant, David Elliot and Clint Melnechenko, who are associated with Tough Enough Drilling Incorporated, created the Tough Enough Running Team, in a genuine effort to do their part and contribute toward this worthy cause.

Tough Enough is a registered non-profit Canadian charity. Corporate sponsors, including Globacorp Developments International, are supporting Tough Enough runners in the Annual Athens Classic Marathon that's being held in Athens, Greece, on November 8, 2009. Each runner is responsible for his or her own expenses and are encouraged to raise a minimum amount of $3,000.00 for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. When they succeed, by finishing the marathon, this qualifies them to win prizes provided through sponsor donations. Supporters of the Tough Enough Running Team will receive an income tax receipt for all donations amounting to $20.00 or more.
